Let’s go! The PokéPod Project anthology for all generation two Pokémon (minus Unown, who will have their own mini anthology for all 28 forms in early 2026) is now revealed, along with the AO3 collection. Collected here are 99 stories written for the project by 63 writers and performed by 29 podficcers. We hope you enjoy reading and listening!

From peasina: It was an honour to see people returning to create again for a new batch of Pokémon and wonderful to welcome new people to the PokePod Project this year. We had fifty fewer Pokémon to create fanworks for, but the enthusiasm from participants was wonderful to witness. I always end up finding a new appreciation for Pokémon I’d previously overlooked thanks to this project, and I’m really looking forward to listening to this year’s anthology where I’ll inevitably find more! Thank you so much for being here.

From Samifer: Here's to another year of Poképod! 🎉 So glad to have been a part of it for another round, and once again looking forward to many more! Thank you to everyone who's participated, new or returning, writer and/or podficcer, for helping us bring this project to life and celebrate a series we all love in all of its many forms. 💗

All this year's podfics are in! The next step is compiling the anthology audiobook, which is on track to be revealed 9 October at 20:00PM (UTC) along with the main collection. (We'll post a reminder nearer the time to redate your works.)

To claim a Pokemon, please comment on this post. Anonymous commenting is on, meaning you don't need a Dreamwidth account to comment. Comments are also screened, so no one else will see them besides the mods. Please include the following information in your comment: the AO3 name where you will post your work, your email address, which Pokemon you are claiming, and whether you are claiming the Pokemon as a writer or a podficcer.

The number beside the Pokemon's name corresponds to the story's word count; seeing as our podficcers can't see the works they're claiming beforehand, we hope this information is helpful.

The writing deadline has passed and podfic signups have closed, so all submitted stories will soon be handed to our podficcers! Writers who have not submitted their assignment (and not already discussed an alternate deadline with us) will have their assigned Pokemon put up for adoption shortly.

What happens next?
1) Podficcer assignment emails will be sent within the next 48 hours (by 20:00PM UTC on 14 September at the latest.)
2) Our Adopt-a-Pokemon post (aka pinch hit post) will go live shortly after all podficcer assignments are sent.

With little over a week remaining for writers, we’d like to draw your attention to this year’s Rare Candies collection. This is a collection for PokéPod Project treats, aka extra stories about gen two Pokémon that can be added by anyone. Works posted to this collection do not have to follow the main project rules, though the author of any fics added will be opting into having them podficced.

The full rules are included at the collection's AO3 profile. Any treats added will be revealed at the same time as the main collection, then remain open for new ones forever.

We are now matching participants to Pokemon and will send out assignment emails before 22 Aug, 20:00PM UTC at the latest. With the number of signups, we are not expecting there to be any initial pinch hits, but keep an eye on this community for updates on which Pokemon need adopting during the writing period.

You can still sign up as a podficcer until 12 September.

Signups have now closed for writers but remain open for podficcers. Signups for podficcers close at the writing deadline on Friday 12 September.

As our event isn't a traditional AO3 exchange or prompt challenge, signups will take place via Google Forms. Assignments will be sent via email, though final works (fic and podfic) must be posted to our AO3 Collection. If you do not already have an AO3 account and would like one, please contact a mod to request an invite code.

How this works

Writers sign up to create between 1 – 5 stories about a Pokémon from Generation Two. Each story should focus on the individual Pokémon they have been assigned to write about, be between 100 – 1000 words, and be complete and posted to the project’s Gen Two AO3 collection by the deadline. All participating writers must consent to their work being podficced - this means a fellow Pokémon fan will perform a reading of your story and post it as a separate work using AO3's “inspired by” function.

Podficcers sign up to record between 1 – 5 stories written for the PokéPod Project.

Once all stories have been written and podficced, they will be revealed alongside the anthology, unleashing the new works into the world for Pokémon lovers to read and/or listen to!
